Harpswell Inn Maine Wedding Photos: Megan and Nick

Our first big wedding of 2025 kicked off with M+N at the lovely Harpswell Inn which is the most beautiful place run by Kelsey and John, who aquired the Inn in 2023 and have been making some incredible upgrades to it and the property. When I first started talking to M last year we immediately hit it off and bonded over our shared love of cats (they have 2, we have 4) and when she talked about her plans for the wedding and the Inn I was so excited to work there. The week of the wedding the forecast was not looking good, we have had a lot of rain this summer in Maine, for some reason most of it falling on every Saturday this summer so far, so it was a little up in the air on if they would have the ceremony outside or under the tent. When we arrived though the rain stopped and it didn’t start again until we were leaving, so amazing! But the weather was that perfect Maine-esque foggy, beautiful overcast light that provided a cool mood for the day and was perfect for the day, not too hot, not too cold! The Inn was so inspiring to work in and I was immediately drawn to the antique pieces and really beautiful old wallpaper. Inns are probably one of our favorite types of venues to work at, especially the older ones with so much charm.

Unfortunately earlier in this year M lost her father unexpectedly. Lyle and I have both been through that so I feel so much empathy for her and knew this would be a really emotional day for her and her family (N had also lost his mom previously, so difficult for both of them). She had a butterfly on her veil that was there to represent him, so that he would be with her in spirit as she walked down the aisle and throughout the day. I felt so moved by this to do something special with her veil and created probably one of my favorite veil shots ever, something about the empty chair and the light were really striking to me. I’m so glad we were able to document so many special moments for them and they trusted us to be there with them on this day. Their family and friends could not have been more kind to us and M+N are the most wonderful people who we absolutely loved working with. Additionally every vendor was great and the whole team created such a great day to be a part of (vendor credits below). We hope to work more at the Harpswell Inn in the future!
