We are thrilled that Maine has passed the Marriage Equality law and look forward to shooting same sex weddings in 2013 and beyond. If you are local to Maine or planning a destination wedding here, please contact us, we would love to speak with you! :) Here are a few photos from Kristin and Nicole's engagement session we did last year (their wedding was in Wisconsin but they chose Maine for their engagement photos, we're glad they did!) :)
There are only a few days left before fall officially begins and this summer has FLOWN by! We have gone on some amazing adventures, shot some incredible weddings and have met and worked with lots of wonderful people this year. We have been so busy we haven't had a chance to update our blog as often as we would like, but have lots of previews on our Facebook page. Before we begin blogging full sessions we wanted to post a preview of some of our favorite shots from the spring and summer. I am excited to share their stories with you with more images very soon. We are now booking sessions for 2013, please feel free to get in touch with us via e-mail to get our rates for next year (weddings, families, high school seniors). We are only accepting a limited number of weddings next year so please contact us asap if you are interested, we will book up quickly! There will also be info on a boudoir marathon coming soon and some changes to our brand and packaging!
The results of the Quarter 4 WPJA contest were announced today and Jess won 2nd place in the "Bouquet/Garter (action)" category. The shot was taken at Adam and Christina's wedding last August. You can view it and all of the winning entries in the variety categories on their website (there are some incredible images there). If you are unfamiliar with the WPJA it is an organization comprised of Wedding Photojournalists and there is an application process to join (you cannot simply pay to be a member). From their website: "the WPJA only accepts into membership gifted, honest wedding photojournalists who work tirelessly to deliver excellent photography to their clients. We also sponsor semi-annual competitions to inspire photographers and illustrate for consumers how transformational truly great wedding photojournalism can be."
Real Maine Weddings is a wonderful website and magazine (published once a year) that showcases Maine weddings and is a great resource for brides planning a wedding. One of our couples from 2009, Liz and Nate, were chosen to have their wedding featured in the magazine. Liz and Nate have such a great story about how they met and why they chose Maine for their wedding. Check out the magazine for the full story and photos on news stands now! And check out our blog post from Liz and Nate's wedding here.
We are thrilled to have some of our wedding images appear in Seacoast Bride Magazine for the third year in a row. Their new issue, on newsstands now, is one of the best issues of the magazine that I have seen. There are also articles with advice for planning a wedding, tons of photo eye candy and a vendor directory and resource guide. If you're on the east coast you can find the magazine in Borders and Barnes and Noble and check out their website for more info too.
We were recently interviewed for Love and Lobster, a great blog featuring Coastal Maine Weddings, vendor tours and wedding inspiration. Check it out and thanks to the staff of Love and Lobster for asking us to be a part of the blog!
We are SO excited to finally be able to release images from that Spring 2010 issue of Portland Style Magazine! The magazine is now out on newsstands around Portland (all over downtown!) and if you're in the area please grab a copy because the images look great printed and there are articles and other resources in there. Since only 5 images are in the magazine we thought we'd show more from the shoot here. We had three incredible local models (Emily, Inna and Corey) along with the help of our super talented makeup artist (Rebecca) and hairstylist (Asia). Styling is by me (Jess)! The flowers for the shoot were provided by the wonderful and talented Judy at Flora Fauna. Clothing is from local shops Chantal and McKenzie Tribe. We cannot thank everyone involved enough! And wait until you see what we have planned for the summer issue!
ps: we're not going to be that company that spams you repeatedly to join our Facebook page, but if you're interested we post news, specials, photos and more there! Thanks for the support!
