Last spring we were contacted by a family who was going to be vacationing in Maine for two weeks and were interested in documenting their time here in a photojournalistic/lifestyle way. I loved that they were not looking for the traditional group portraits and instead trusted our vision and wanted us to shoot them hanging out, having fun, eating lobster, etc. We spent quite a bit of time with them over the two weeks they stayed in Saco/Old Orchard Beach, Maine at a beautiful house right on the ocean, and they very quickly forgot we were even there and were comfortable letting us into their lives to shoot everything. This was one of my favorite shoots that we had all summer. There is a great mix of portraiture and photojournalism — from their proud grandparents spending time with their new twins, to sisters hanging out by the ocean at sunset being silly, time outs, playing games, eating lobster, visiting lighthouses and lots in between, it was an amazing experience to help them document their summer vacation. We are currently in the process of putting a beautiful album together with everything and they also had canvases blown up of their kids for their house. We love that our photos are used in that way and are so happy we could get to know them all. And it looks like we’re going on another adventure with them this summer to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. :) If you are considering a family session with us please get in touch, we book limited sessions in the summer and fall and they all take place outdoors.
