We are LONG overdue for a new blog… what an amazing and busy summer/fall we had with weddings, fashion shoots, high school seniors and SO much more. The good news is that now we have blog material for the winter while things are a little slower! We have been putting up previews of all the weddings on our Facebook page, so please check that out. Here’s a little preview of some shoots from 2011, look for new blogs soon!

In addition to our work together, we have also been busy pursuing our individual interests and projects: Jess has had a busy summer shooting fashion with multiple magazine editorials published and Lyle recently shot the music video “Flower Child” for the band Paranoid Social Club. This was his first time shooting and directing a music video, but definitely not his last! We also filmed a short piece for a family this summer which will be be posting here soon.
Sorry I skipped a week but I was shooting some fashion work in NYC and celebrating my birthday.
Here is this week’s installment of our weekly blog feature!
1. Paranoid Social Club (new album out 5/20! so good!), 2. Cari and Jay’s NYC engagement session, 3. NYC Beauty Shoot, 4. Ashley, 2009 bride, 5. NYC model shoot
1. Model winter editorial shoot (more here), 2. Couples boudoir, 3. Cory & Erica’s After Session, 4. Model studio shoot, 5. Manu & Jensine’s engagement shoot (2009)
Things you should know about the Werner family:
1) They are seriously one of the coolest families ever. We don’t say that lightly. From the way they interact with each other, to their interests and how amazingily cool, open and down-to-earth they are, they are awesome.
2) Photos are REALLY important to them. Every year we start talking about their shoot in the summer (to shoot in fall) and they want to capture their family in a cool and creative way. Last year we recreated the Beatles Abbey Road album cover with them. This year they rented a schooner from the Portland Schooner Company and we all went out for a sunset cruise for two hours. It was the most beautiful day/evening and could not have been more perfect.
3) See number one.
Here are some of the photos from the session, a mix of candid moments and posed shots. And wait until you see what we have in store for the 2011 shoot!
Our weekly blog series is back! Check in every Friday to see 5 new photos (or from our archive).

The results of the Quarter 4 WPJA contest were announced today and Jess won 2nd place in the “Bouquet/Garter (action)” category. The shot was taken at Adam and Christina’s wedding last August. You can view it and all of the winning entries in the variety categories on their website (there are some incredible images there). If you are unfamiliar with the WPJA it is an organization comprised of Wedding Photojournalists and there is an application process to join (you cannot simply pay to be a member). From their website: “the WPJA only accepts into membership gifted, honest wedding photojournalists who work tirelessly to deliver excellent photography to their clients. We also sponsor semi-annual competitions to inspire photographers and illustrate for consumers how transformational truly great wedding photojournalism can be.”
