Five on Friday, Week of 6/4

So sorry I skipped a few weeks of our blog series. We have been insanely busy with weddings and other shoots AND the weather here has been amazing, so we’ve been enjoying that. Last year we had the craziest summer of our lives and I didn’t realize until it was getting cold last fall that I hadn’t been to the beach once for myself (so non-shoot I mean)… When you own your own business it’s hard to separate life/business sometimes, but we are determined to do a better job of that this summer.:)So maybe next Friday’s blog will be non-portrait work with all shots of what Maine looks like at the moment! Until then, here is this week’s edition, from an engagement shoot (more coming), wedding, fashion shoot in New York and a creative child model. We are also starting to book senior sessions for the summer and fall PLEASE contact us because we will be booked up and have limited time to shoot them!

scotty - dude, the first shot is ridiculous. love it.

Jess - Thanks!! I have a series of them but I liked that one the best. :)

claire - love them all! also, i want that hair in the second shot!!!

Willoughbys - The second photo looks like Marian Rivera. A Filipina Actress…

Luke & Marion | Maine Wedding Photographers

We met Luke and Marion in early 2007, very soon after we had moved to Maine, to discuss their September 2007 wedding. We all hit it off immediately and a quick meeting to discuss their wedding turned into drinks and conversation late into the evening. They were actually some of the first friends we had in Maine. Their wedding was great, we shot several other times after that and then started meeting often for dinners and hanging out. They are SO much fun and it’s really rare to meet people you connect with like that as an adult (especially when you don’t work in a real office!). And we feel so lucky when we have clients that we hit it off with like that. Luke and Marion are moving to Maryland (today, actually!) and even though we are sad to see them go they are taking advantage of new opportunities there and are excited to live in a new area… Actually we think that secretly they just think that Maryland crabcakes are better than Maine’s.;)

Here are some of the shots we took as part of an anniversary/goodbye shoot… M&L we will miss you!

Marion Goodine - Beautiful photos from beautiful friends! We miss you guys too.

karen - Beautiful shots! Love the first one…. The yellow flowers are sooo pretty!

Five on Friday, Week of May 14

So sorry we skipped a week of our series last week (I’ve gotten emails about it, I love that people like this idea and are following our blog! Thank you!) but we were shooting a beautiful wedding in Lovettsville, VA which you will see on the blog soon (hopefully tonight). Today’s 5 photos all come from a portfolio session that I shot with G this week for her agency. She is a young actress/singer and has tons of talent and SO cute!  :) Here are a few shots we did for her portfolio, which was mostly smiley/happy shots (while trying to hide her new braces), but these are some that are a little different than that I loved. Stay tuned, two more great blogs coming this weekend!

Mary Pardi - LOVE these pictures! As usual, you do a great job and are so creative!!

Riley | Maine Teen Portraits

Somewhere in between the cute elementary school years and fun senior portraits is a time we all remember and love (ha), the teen years… Looking back at my own portraits of myself from when I was younger there are very few from when I was 13-17 (and my senior photos were absolutely awful, stiff-looking, boring photos)… and the ones I do have aren’t really reflective of who I really was as a teenager. We shoot a lot of children’s portraits and lots of high school seniors, but until now haven’t really had many shoots with teenagers. A few weeks ago I did some shots for a friend’s sister who is thirteen and had such a great time walking around and getting to know her. Then she put the photos up on her Facebook and it was really amazing to see how positively all her friends reacted to the photos. We are now offering special shoots for teens which are shot a lot like our senior shoots. Our amazing makeup artist Rebecca is available for these shoots and we offer help with posing and styling and concepts for the shoots. Please contact us if you’re interested in more information!

Meet Riley. He’s the son of a family that we frequently work with and is interested in modeling. He’s a freshman in high school and a really awesome musician. We had so much fun at his shoot which, as a musician as well, I especially loved — and how often is it that you get to smash a guitar at a shoot?:)

Kate Werner - You guys rock!! Riley had an amazing experience and these photos are not only beautiful, but reflect him as an individual and musician, inside and out. Gone are the stiff photos most teens have to endure – he was free to be himself and it is as a result, the photos are a true reflection (in the best light of course :) ) The location is killer – how do you ever find these places? :)

scotty - all kinds of goodness.

Five on Friday, Week of 4/30 | Maine Photographers

Alison - Really like this feature! Great shots and look forward to more.
