About Us

We are a husband/wife professional photography team that started our business, Fidelio Photography, in Indianapolis in 2005. We moved to Portland, Maine in 2006. In 2009 we opened our studio space in the historic State Theater building on Congress Street. We are entering our 4th year as wedding photographers, shooting around 25 weddings a year in Maine and beyond. Additionally, we are fashion photographers and shoot portfolios for independent models and agencies. Four times a year we shoot and style for Portland Style Magazine, published by the Phoenix. Our other portrait work includes high school seniors and families.

We love our jobs and love working with people. We like to think outside the box and find funky locations, play with light and experiment with poses and ideas for all of our shoots.

One of the greatest compliments that we constantly receive is how comfortable we make our clients feel. We are friendly and fun while working as a team, although sometimes we can get a little competitive with each other (in a totally playful way of course!). You’ll find us laying down on the ground to get shots, climbing trees, putting models in the middle of busy intersections and getting in locations which  maybe we aren’t supposed to be at (all legally, of course!). We will generally do just anything to get a great shot!

Our work has been published in Seacoast Bride Magazine (2009 and 2010 issues), The Knot’s Real Weddings Online, Southern Brides Magazine and Portland Style Magazine.

Lyle Koehnlein:
I was born and raised in New York City and started shooting twenty years ago when I received my first Ansco camera. I have traveled throughout the United State and Europe, focusing on architecture and landscape photography and am passionate about nature photography and artistic portraiture.

My work has been published in the Indianapolis Star, for the NCSFA, the Humane Society, in the book “Whispers from the Woods” and “Sea Magic” by author Sandra Kynes and on various websites and in print work.

Jessica Weiser:
I have been in love with photography since I was 9 years old. I used to take the camera out of my parents’ dresser drawer without them knowing and run off and take photos of my sister and brother, which they would only know about later after they developed the film. In high school I took a photography class and I was hooked. I spent my junior year as a photographer on the newspaper staff and senior year as photo editor. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Photojournalism from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana in 1999 and was a Dean’s List student.

In addition to photography I am also trained in graphic design and self-taught in web design. My experience with design is useful when creating albums for clients. I am also a singer/songwriter with three albums released. When not shooting I love music (specifically Matt Nathanson, John Mayer, Patty Griffin, and LOTS more), shopping, working on our house, being at the ocean and hanging with my husband and our three crazy cats.
